I always seen this big Buddha statue from the train when I was going to work. I have been wanting to go and check it out for a long time now and finally decided to this weekend. I just went to the station and walked there based on sight of the big hill it was on top. Here is what I saw.
Being that this was a Buddhist cemetery it is really rare/weird that we saw 2 Christian graves.
Inside the building the Buddha statue sits on is a small room that houses the bones of certain family members. In Japan everyone is cremated and there is a special ceremony with moving the bones with chopsticks.
Despite the days low visibility it was still a really nice sight.
These statues represent the death of 水子 (water children), which translates to babies who have been aborted or miscarried.

Oh man... the Heisig's RTK story on kanji koohii for 死 used the chopstick + bones thing. I thought it was just a joke though!
